Following hard on the heels of the Scrap Metal Dealers site
visits & the U16 Exemption study that we carried out last year, we have now
added a new function to the public side of the MVDA website.
It is now possible to send us information about suspected
illegal operators. We just ask for some
basic info such as the company name, address & any website, eBay or
Facebook address, to allow us to identify the operator.
We do not record or store any information on the person
submitting the report – it is completely anonymous.
The information about the suspected illegal operator is
logged & we will then check & update our database, & if we think
they are illegal we will report them to the Environment Agency & Crime
Stoppers.
Last year MVDA identified & reported more than 230
illegal car dismantlers.
You can view the new webpage here.
Thank you for shedding light on the importance of reporting illegal dismantlers and scrap yards. It's crucial for communities to step up and ensure these operations follow environmental and safety regulations. Illegal practices not only harm our environment but also give the industry a bad reputation. I appreciate the clear guidance on how to report such activities—it empowers us all to take action and make a positive impact. On another note, if you're in Adelaide and looking to sell your old or unwanted vehicle, I highly recommend checking out Cash for Cars Adelaide. They offer competitive prices, hassle-free transactions, and eco-friendly car recycling services. It’s a great way to responsibly dispose of your vehicle while putting some cash in your pocket! Together, let's promote safe, legal, and sustainable practices across Australia.😊
